Welcome to the Local Ecologist, a blog of wide-ranging urban ecological ruminations. The blog is a project of localecology.org, a research and advocacy non-governmental organization founded by Georgia Silvera Seamans. Georgia co-founded and directs Washington Square Park | WSP Eco Projects, an environmental education and research organization. She is a visiting scholar at New York University. Georgia has worked as a community and urban forester in New Haven, Boston, Berkeley, Oakland, and New York City. She holds degrees from Wesleyan University, the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, and UC Berkeley.
